Global Dignity greetings

Greetings from Helsinki,

We are about to enter October which celebrates this year 10th anniversary of Global Dignity movement. With global dignity day, marked on 12th October 2015 is celebrated in nearly 80 countries. With my team we are here to push muscles to inspire girls and boys, the future generation with dignity. Globally 500,000 students are anticipated to celebrate Global Dignity day and among them are almost 800 are in Finland.

It is our second year in action. After first event in 2015, Global Dignity Girls & Boys has been registered as a non-profit organization in May 2016. We joined Dreams Youth Forum at Nokia HQ as facilitators of From idea to reality workshops for 150 students on 26.05.2016 (whole forum invited 100 nationwide Finnish schools, 700 students, and over 24 workshop providers.)

With hard work from my team, support of co-organizers and sponsors, we have scheduled 2 events: Global Dignity Girls will take place on October 4th, 2016 for 112 Aurinkolahti Comprehensive School students and Global Dignity Boys for 500 students on October 26th, 2016 open for students of 4 schools (Viikki Teacher Training School of the University of Helsinki, Oulunkylä Comprehensive School, Herttoniemi Secondary School and the Normal Lyceum of Helsinki)

People, young and old are almost programmed to hear and fear negative news of today, damaged planet, war-torn, bullied and violent. With Global dignity actions in line with our values, we aim to remove the fears of reality and see the hope… We aim to let each participant unleash his/her positive and creative energy to their future with self-acceptance, healthy self-image and self-confidence.

Through personal histories shared by speakers at the Global Dignity events, we realize how we are all connected and see how humanity is expressed and so is compassion. We learn youngsters to appreciate the life they have, understand their place in the universe and that they do not live alone.

Our mission is to show that through these personal stories each student can take responsibility for his/her actions and get the patience and courage to dream, make choices and be ready for the Future.

This year is 10 years since Facebook launched its NewsFeed to the world and revolutionized our way to communicate. With Global Dignity, which is also 10 years old, we like to bring much more dignity on to our agenda, in classrooms, in any institution and create a healthy environment both physically and online and space for each individual.

There are 7 billion people on the planet, 1,71 billion of us on Facebook. And there are 7 billion ways to be. ”Be the best version of yourself,” as Jenni Pääskysaari advised last year and it will always the advise I will pass on and live by.

Welcome to our events and join the movement.

Best regards,

Kamilla Sultanova
